Grounded Weapon Tier List: What Wins Exploration Runs in 2026
Creator tier lists love flashy weapons. Grounded rewards expected value: damage and penetration, control you can master, and gear you can replace after a death. Here is how to rank weapons for real backyard sessions — not highlight reels.
How should you define S-tier in Grounded?
S-tier means the best expected value across a hundred creature encounters in the Backyard, Hedge Lab, and Upper Yard — not the weapon that looks strongest on a practice dummy. Mid-range spears and bows win many fights that decide exploration runs: twenty to forty meters through grass, tunnels, and branches.
Clubs still own tight interiors. Bows still punish long peeks toward Black Anthill and Upper Yard. Everything between those extremes is usually spear or bow country, which is why a well-upgraded tier-two spear stays relevant update after update when materials and mods are available.
Always re-check live values after patches on Grounded. The hierarchy logic stays useful even when numbers nudge.
Materials, time-to-down, and positioning matter more than weapon names
Time-to-down in Grounded is really about damage type and armor tier. A weaker weapon with the right upgrade path beats a loud meta spear feeding trash materials into tier-three armor. Learn which upgrades you can afford this update cycle, then pick a weapon you can control at your skill level.
First-hit accuracy decides many encounters. A clean cadence — peek, land a combo, dodge back, re-peek — beats standing still for spam attacks. Pair this mid-range plan with loot discipline from our loot routes guide so you actually start with the materials you planned to use.
Loadout pairings and common mistakes
A durable gear set is usually a reliable mid-range spear or bow, a close-range club for Hedge Lab tunnels, enough heals, and armor you can replace after deaths. In solo exploration, that same spine supports the aggression patterns in our solo exploration strategies article.
Common mistakes: attacking from too far away, re-peeking the same angle, swapping to a club at mid range out of habit, and never practicing controlled combos in practice mode. If you also use soft aim tooling, lock sensitivity and fundamentals first, then review Grounded aimbot settings.
